Meet our staff!
Dave's love for dogs started back in his early teenage years when he began training dogs and competing in field trials. He had continued to enjoy the sport and has raised and trained a number of dogs who have won National Championships. Along with competing, Dave also enjoys judging Championships and has served as a former President of the Association of New England Field Trials, and is also a certified AKC Evaluator. Dave's love for animals extends beyond dogs as he is an avid horseback rider too. He currently has three wonderful horses that join him on his field trials.
Upon contemplating his retirement from Eversource as a lineman for 30 years, Dave decided to take his passion for dogs and start a doggie daycare and boarding business. In 2009, he put his plans into action when he renovated his horse barn and converted it for Paws Inn Play. Paws Inn Play officially opened on December 7th, 2009. Since starting the business, Dave has enjoyed the close relationships he forms with customers, and the family atmosphere that Paws Inn Play promotes.
Our kennel manager Stephanie has been working at PIP since February 2016. Stephanie grew up around many dogs and always knew she wanted a career working with animals. Coming from a customer service background, the mixture of pups and people was the perfect fit. She has been our groomer since 2017 and loves making the dogs look and feel great. Stephanie is certified by the American Red Cross for dog and cat CPR and pet safety as well as a certified AKC evaluator. At home, Stephanie has a rescue rottweiler named Tank, an english pointer named Joey, Leo the cat, and Thumper the bunny. In her spare time, you’ll find Stephanie enjoying the outdoors year round whether it’s swimming with the dogs, fishing, boating, horseback riding or surrounded by woods.
Jen started working at PIP back in October 2012. Jen graduated from the University of Saint Josephs with a bachelor degree in science. When Jen started she was still in school and loved coming into PIP whenever she had a little “pup fever”. Jen now works full time at an insurance company but is still dedicated to come in and work on the weekends! Jen always brightens up PIP with her positive energy and smiles. You can find her out in the play yard making sure your best fur-end has the best day! When Jen is not working, you can find her reading a great novel or relaxing and doing some yoga.
Kate has been working at PIP since February 2018. Kate graduated from Ithaca College in 2006 and worked at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT, for many years before deciding to return to school. As a full-time student, pursuing a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Kate feels very lucky to have found PIP, where she is able to spend time interacting with the dogs and being outdoors. PIP is a wonderful balance to the time Kate spends sitting with clients, sitting in classes, and sitting in front of her computer. When Kate isn’t at PIP, at school, or at her two clinical placement sites, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband Andy, her three year old dog Murray, and her thirteen year old cat Jackson. Kate also enjoys gardening and reading when she does have free time. Kate is extremely grateful for all the PIP pups, who remind her to be in the present moment and are always ready to play and snuggle.
Lindsay joined the PIP family in June 2018 as one of our kennel and daycare workers. After working with the pups for a few months, she decided to go back to school to become a dog trainer. Lindsay wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of dogs that needed it and help strengthen the bond between the dogs and owners. Previously Lindsay worked in an office setting, received her bachelor’s degree in business, and is now certified by Animal Behavioral College for dog training, and dog and cat CPR and pet safety. You can find Lindsay out in the play yard or in PIPs training programs. At home Lindsay has Roxy a retriever/rottie mix, Lexi a jack/beagle mix, and Vern the ferret. In her down time she enjoys bringing the dogs on the boat, hiking, riding on the motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends.
Our kennel and daycare crew member Lacey has been working at PIP since August 2018. Lacey has always had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially dogs. She is human first aid & CPR certified and has past history of working in customer service. Lacey is currently going to school full time to graduate with an Associates in Liberal Arts and Science. Then continue to pursue her studies in radiology. Lacey has a rescue cat named Lolly Lou and a black lab named Shadow. When Lacey is not out in the play yard with the pups you can find her outside exploring with Shadow and her friends. Whether it’s hunting, fishing, or taking a walk in the local trails you’ll find her out loving the wild life.
